Our Policies

Ethical Standards

At Manassen we source food products from around the world and we own a number of food manufacturing and packaging facilities in Australia. It is therefore important that we ensure all dealings are conducted ethically and responsibly. Our suppliers must agree to guidelines that cover workplace policies, local labour laws and environmental laws, and to assure our customers about the integrity of our supply chain, our suppliers are monitored, including unannounced on-site inspections. We are committed to ensuring the personal health and safety of our workers, consumers and the wider community and to minimising our impact on the environment. Our employee code of conduct and stringent human resource policies and procedures are strictly followed and understood by all concerned. These form an important part of our induction and training procedures.

The Environment

Our businesses and suppliers are expected to meet applicable environmental laws and regulations in their operations, as well as to develop and implement plans and programs to correct non-compliant practices. We are committed to safeguarding the environment and embrace a variety of environmental practices and policies. These include: Having an environmental management policy that complies with all relevant local and regional government controls. Disposing of production waste in accordance with such laws; for example all companies must advise their supplier base of the Australian Packaging Covenant (APC) we adhere to. (This is an Australian government initiative to reduce waste and landfill).

  • Ensuring hazardous chemicals are stored as required and material safety data sheets (MSDS) are available for all chemicals and cleaning materials used.
  • Analysing waste destined for landfill to identify material that can be recycled, as well as monitoring water and air emissions and identifying ways to reduce them.
  • Evaluating whether a carbon footprint is associated with our operations and, if so, monitoring and reducing it.
  • Examining whether recycled materials can be used in the production of finished goods (for example, outer packaging).
  • Deciding whether all components used to package an item are really necessary.

Culture

We actively and passionately embrace the following values and attributes: integrity, diversity, resilience, loyalty, excellence and creativity. Every person who works in, or with, Manassen is expected to do the same.
